Condat tips : Coolant Maintenance for summer break
Ensure Peak Peformance Post-Summer with CONDAT
As summer draws to a close, it’s crucial to implement some best practices before a long period of inactivity. During the summer break, metalworking fluids face harsh conditions (heat, absence of circulation, no top-upโฆ), making post-break maintenance essential. Here are CONDAT advice for a worry-free restart after enjoying a long break:
Before holidays:
- Ensure coolant concentration is at the upper limit
- Maintain pH recommended levels
- Minimize chlorides to prevent corrosion
- Remove contaminants like tramp oils and chips
After summer break:
- Check Bath Condition: Control the appearance, check pH and concentration are within specifications.
- If Concentration is low: Increase to recommended levels.
- If pH is low: Use a bactericide and a pH Booster as the emulsion is vulnerable to bacterial growth.
- If Both are Low: Use a bactericide and increase concentration.

Refill & Maintznance Best Practices:
If you start up with a brand-new emulsion, the best way to prolong the sump life is to do a proper maintenance prior to the filling of the machine!
- Use a system cleaner to clean the tank.
- Treat with a bactericide to sanitize the machine.
- Circulate the emulsion for 48 hours at low concentration, drain, and refill with a fresh emulsion.
CONDAT can provide you with tank-side additives to help you maintain your coolant in good conditions: System cleaner without bactericides, effective biocide and fungicide, pH Boosters, Antifoam agentsโฆ
Maximize your machine’s lifespan and efficiency with CONDAT’s comprehensive maintenance solutions.
